WHSmith Careers 2022 – Infrastructure Manager

Job Description:

You will be responsible for delivering and supporting technical solutions around IT Infrastructure and Networking in conjunction with our third-party IT support and delivery partners. This is a hands-on role and will Line manage the Internal Network & Infrastructure Team working across the WHSmith Group.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manages supplier delivery against contract SLA’s and OLA’s within their service and IT services remit – resolves service performance issues with suppliers
• Design and delivery of infrastructure & network solutions centred on strategic reuse of building blocks, new technologies and reference architectures
• Ensures that the capacity of infrastructure & network services can deliver agreed service level targets in a cost effective and timely manner. Considers all resources required to deliver the IT service, and is concerned with meeting both the current and future capacity and performance needs of WHS
• Leads regular service review meetings with contracted suppliers – reviews performance against service reports; resolves operational service delivery, escalation, ordering, usage & capacity planning issues; reviews contractual obligations & service improvement plan

Job Requirements:

• Deployment and management of IP Networking, Routers, Switches and Firewalls (Cisco, Meraki, HP, Ruckus and Palo Alto are the main vendors currently), Firewall rule sets and Access Control Lists, VPN solutions (Cisco and Palo Alto), HP Wireless
• Controllers, Access Points and Switches advantageous (MSM Device Series)
• Strong organization skills, often juggling multiple priorities, and the ability to command respect from the existing team is imperative(vital) Excellent communication skills (e.g. IT related concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Qualification & Experience:

• Experience of managing the provision and support of infrastructure & network services across a range of technologies including public/private cloud, on premise across multiple geographical locations
• Experience with Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Amazon Web Services, Virtualization technologies, Active Directory and ADFS
• Experience of establishing infrastructure and network standards across platforms, cloud and infrastructure for customer facing web/ mobile applications & internal system applications
