Job Description:

WestJet is currently seeking a Standards Advisor to help support our Airports team. The Standards Advisor will report to the Manager of Airport Standards. They will be responsible for developing and communicating standards and procedures that enable frontline teams to create a remarkable experience. This is a unique opportunity as this position will collaborate and strategically partner with various internal stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment amongst the groups.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to analyze, validate (for accuracy/applicability) and update existing standards and procedures
  • Will be responsible to write, format, edit standards and procedures that are aligned with industry best practices, International Aviation Transportation Association (IATA) recommendations and IATA resolutions, as required
  • Partner closely with other departments throughout the development and implementation of cross functional projects and initiatives to ensure ease of processing
  • Communicate new or changed standards and procedures using optimal delivery methods, including reviewing the impact with stakeholders affected by the change
  • Accountable for designing and developing documents (forms, checklists, templates, etc.) that are used within Airport operations
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) and professionally liaise with other internal departments to ensure the airport standards are aligned with other business units and comply with all regulatory requirements (COM/FAM) pertaining to operations

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated communication skills to exchange ideas in a professional and concise style that is detailed and easy to understand
  • Proficient with using Microsoft Office Suite (Power Point, Word, Outlook, Teams and Visio.)
  • Outside the box thinking mentality and possessing the ability to take a proactive approach to identify problems, issues, and opportunities and propose possible solutions
  • Proficient with back office tools (Read and Sign, Team Sites, Sharepoint etc.)
  • Excellent time management skills (e.g. planning and coordinating) achieved through organization and flexibility under minimal supervision
  • Post-secondary education is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated abilities in critical thinking and problem solving
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and cross functionally
  • Bilingual in French and English is considered an asset

Qualification & Experience:

  • Previous airline experience is considered an asset
  • At least three years of airline operational experience
