We are seeking an Operations Intern to support Voya’s loan investment platform. We are a boutique investment team based in Scottsdale, Arizona managing a portfolio of loans and other below-investment grade assets. The Operations Intern will be responsible for sourcing key data points from a variety of documents (loan agreements, rating agency reports, etc.) and entering them into our proprietary portfolio management system (RDS) to create a Security Master. The Intern will also be tasked with creating documented procedures around the Security Master creation, for our use as the responsibility is shifted to a full-time Operations Analyst at a later date. The Intern will have an opportunity to work with investment analysts covering a variety of companies and sectors, and will learn the interplay between an investment management platform and our third party partners such as administrative agent banks, NRSROs and Benchmark/Index providers. Please Note: Work location for this role is FLEXIBLE! This position allows 100% remote work from home or allows work to be performed in any of our major office locations with a hybrid schedule.

Job Responsibilities

  • Attend investment team Morning Meetings (6:30 am Arizona time on Tuesday and Thursday) to track new investment opportunities presented to the platform and to gain familiarity with our investment process.
  • Access “bank books” and other syndication materials in our external document repository, FinDox, for all deals which the investment team wishes to pursue.
  • Using the syndication materials as a guide, and in conjunction with the sector-specific Research Analyst, identify and input relevant data points into RDS.
  • Complete required fields related to loan issuers (the company issuing the loan) and facilities (the loan itself) to support creation of the RDS Security Master.
  • Research loan identifiers (FIGI IDs) on Bloomberg and input them into RDS.
  • Populate the Security Master for bond investments using information in the Blackrock Aladdin system.
  • Prepare the information above for review by Research Analysts, and modify as required for accuracy.
  • Document the processes and procedures related to Security Master creation in an organized and detailed manner.

  • A sophomore or junior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or other business-related field, with a minimum GPA of 3.25.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and problem solving skills.
  • Independently motivated with ability to perform highly-detailed work and multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Aptitude to learn and become fluent in our proprietary technology system, RDS, as well as numerous external data provider platforms (e.g., FinDox, Bloomberg, Blackrock Aladdin).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively interact with people inside and outside the organization.
