Toyota Job Hiring – Corporate Communications Manager

Job Description:

The primary responsibility of this role is to establish Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina’s (TBMNC) presence in the state and Greensboro region as the plant begins construction, and manage ongoing communications including media relations, community relations, local government relations, executive support, and social innovation activities that promote Toyota as a good corporate citizen and an employer of choice.

Job Responsibilities:

• Represent economic development incentives
• Managing all external activities, relationships, events and associated budgets
• Overseeing philanthropic budget (donations/sponsorships), partnerships and volunteer events
• Serving as media spokesperson for TBMNC/TRD
• Working across internal administrative departments to develop and carry out communications strategy
• Local Government Affairs lead and state/federal Government Affairs partner
• Lead crisis communications plan and training for plant and executive management team
• Provide advice to executive leadership and management team
• Developing communication plans, press releases, speeches, scripts, etc.

Job Requirements:

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
• Familiarity with the region and community
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Ability and willingness to work after hours and weekends
• Strong leadership and people management skills, including demonstrated success leading a team

Qualification & Experience:

• Automotive or manufacturing industry and related communications experience
• Public relations experience, including creating communication plans, press releases, story development, executive speeches, briefing documents, presentations, events, etc.
• Large-scale event planning and execution experience
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional work experience
• Experience in government relations
• Advanced degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a closely related field
• Experience with community relations management
