The Buyer will provide the merchandising vision for Tommy.com with responsibility to develop and execute merchandising strategies. This position is a key part of our eCommerce team, driving daily execution for planning, buying, analyzing, merchandising and forecasting for all product categories. Specific areas of ownership include, but are not limited to, Non-Apparel, Home and Underwear/Lounge. The Buyer will be responsible for managing multiple calendar deadlines, working with several licensees and managing the OTB for all departments. The Buyer must be detailed-oriented and organized!
Responsibilities
- Understands financial metrics to analyze businesses & can make recommendations on how to drive the business based on sales, history & market trends
- Drive merchandise selection process, placement of orders and ensure proper quantities are placed by style/color/size for division
- Partners with Merchandise Manager to analyze the weekly business. Make recommendations on future buys to grow and expand business
- Leads the team to drive results at the divisional level. Provides timely direction and communication to all team members (Planning, Digital Merchandising, Copy, Marketing, and Content)
- Builds relationships through effective collaboration & is a solution-oriented team member
- Exhibits leadership capability & can motivate as well as mentor Assistant Buyer. Possesses the ability to manage up, down and across with results
- Ability to develop & drive divisional strategies for areas of responsibility. Analyzes LY information as well as current market to support strategy development. Identifies how current trend will affect future results and adjusts as needed
- Responsible for presenting in seasonal buy reviews, hindsight and any other reporting meeting that is on the fiscal calendar
- Responsible for overseeing the commercialization and enrichment process of 3rd party Purchase Orders and internal assortments as well following all calendar deadlines
- Responsible for collaborating with licensee partners on market appointments, buy deadlines, imagery request, PO processes, copy, etc.
- Shop competing websites to monitor fashion trends, pricing strategies and presentation techniques. Report industry learnings to eCommerce team
- Develops and executes site taxonomy strategy. Recommends seasonal updates that help to enhance and or maximize site conversion and improve customer experience
- Participate in adhoc analysis as necessary
- Manages assigned area OTB monthly, seasonal, yearly basis
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising, fashion marketing or business administration
- 5 years in retail (preferably in the Non-Apparel/Underwear and Loungewear markets)
- Must be proficient in Excel and Retail Math
- Strong planning, inventory management and analytical skills
- eCommerce experience preferred
- Able to handle multiple projects with adherence to multiple deadlines and be highly organized
- Able to work independently as well as on group projects
- Self-motivated and confident with decision-making
- Able to demonstrate leadership skills & can motivate, train, as well as mentor and develop direct reports
