Job Description
The Senior Program Manager plays a central role in the implementation of The Washington Post’s custom advertising solutions across all platforms including desktop and mobile web, print, social platforms and Washington Post mobile apps. This role will primarily focus on implementing and managing high-fidelity custom advertising solutions and providing efficient service for all advertising teams. In addition, the successful candidate will collaborate extensively with Client Partnerships, Editorial, Product, Custom Content, Events, Marketing, Ad Operations, Production and Design to bring to life unique and innovative custom and native advertising programs for partnership-level programs. This role will report to the Manager, Program Management under the WP Creative Group.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the dedicated client-facing project manager for high budget/complex campaigns, strategically coordinating internal teams and third-party vendors to manage client expectations and internal parameters to execute custom advertising programs
- Serves as the main point-of-contact with client and agency leads and oversees all communication, including email communications and live or virtual client meetings
- Creates and manages project timelines throughout the campaign to adhere to client expectations and program goals
- Manages internal creative workflow and communications with Creative Group editorial, design, development, video/audio production teams and third-party vendors to achieve the highest quality creative deliverables aligned to best practices
- Works with team leadership to improve processes, identify and standardize best practices, and assist with other team-wide initiatives as assigned
- Coordinates with the Sales, Ad Operations and Client Service Management teams to implement custom and native advertising solutions across all platforms
- Works with social media strategy team to implement, monitor, and optimize of social media campaigns to engage readers and drive them to native content across washingtonpost.com digital platforms
- Works with performance management team to monitor traffic, engagement and promotion metrics on a per-campaign basis and provide progress reports to clients
Qualifications
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Experience liaising with and presenting to C-level clients
- Familiar with handling multiple 360 marketing campaigns with budgets of $1M+
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience project managing/producing native advertising content and/or brand campaigns on behalf of blue-chip clients
- Well-versed in client negotiation tactics
- Understanding of digital media and advertising industries (agency and/or publisher experience a plus)
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in busy environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary, with strong presentation skills a plus
- Capable of working proactively with multiple departments to achieve results
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, MS Word and Excel a must
- Familiarity with project management software (Asana, Jira, etc) required
