We are seeking a Data Protection Officer to help us to improve our global management of potentially sensitive information, carry out regular internal security audits, and act as the main point of contact between Ted Baker and the data protection authorities. Our ideal team member will have excellent organizational, communication and management skills, and also the ability to lead training sessions and workshops with other team members. You will often be asked to work independently in this role, but also communicate with all relevant team members to promote a culture of data protection compliance within the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Ted’s data privacy obligations through the development of data protection and privacy materials
  • Evaluate the existing data protection framework, identify areas of non or partial compliance and rectify any issues. Advise team members where their activities put the company at risk and provide actionable solutions.
  • Ensure that the group policies are in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and codes of practice
  • Provide subject matter privacy Advice, including in relation to data protection legislation and its application to Ted Baker.
  • Act as primary point of contact within the organization for team members, regulators and any relevant public bodies on issues related to data protection, including data subject rights under data protection legislation
  • Oversee data subject rights and requests for information.
  • Devise training plans and provide data protection advice and support for team members

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and to translate technical matters into business areas with attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills and ability to carry out inspections, consultation and analysis influencing business areas as appropriate.
  • Expertise in UK and European data protection laws and practices
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive and confidential information

Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum of at least four to five years of experience working in data protection compliance
  • Experience within a legal, audit or risk function department and a high-level understanding of computer systems and/or data security for purposes of ensuring data privacy compliance.
