Manager, Strategic Vendor Partnerships

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • Works closely with the Lead, Strategic Vendor Partnerships to manage, strengthen and nurture new and existing strategic alliances and partnerships across the global Research organization.
  • Part of the team focused on vendor partnerships, which includes but not limited to, ownership of partnership processes and procedures, cross-functional and stakeholder management.
  • Participate in managing budget, creating purchase orders for payment, tracking milestone payments and invoices across the Research organization.
  • Provide meeting management support, including meeting planning, scheduling, facilitation, documentation and communication of outcomes (e.g., preparation of agendas and minutes, document management).

Accountabilities

  • Ensure all obligations outlined in research collaboration agreements are met at the project and strategic partnership levels.
  • Coordinate, attend, and lead meetings to support research partnerships and collaborations.
  • Monitor and track progress and milestones through progress reports, meeting minutes, etc.
  • Perform project-related reporting, planning, documentation, budgeting, and risk analysis. Communicate research progress and project updates to Research teams and external partners.
  • Identify and communicate project issues and facilitate their resolution; conduct risk management and contingency planning.
  • Provide expert support for project logistics, procurement and contracting, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with Research business functions.
  • Ensure smooth cross-functional liaisons with critical functions for project success (Legal, Finance, Procurement, HR, and across all scientific functions as necessary).

Education, Behavioural Competencies And Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in life science or other relevant field required.
  • Knowledge of the drug discovery, development and commercialization processes preferred.
  • Broad experience navigating cross-functional teams through critical scientific, regulatory and general development and global commercialization issues.
  • Proven ability to analyze and organize information logically.
  • Strong collaboration and negotiation skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven organizational / time management skills and ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence outcomes and key project decisions. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships while delivering results in a highly complex, matrixed global organization.
  • Must be proficient in Ariba SAP, Salesforce, and Microsoft applications including Office, Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with troubleshooting / problem solving and risk assessment / mitigation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately <5% travel may be required. Domestic and international flights with overnight stays are required.

Additional Information

  • Hybrid work model (work from home and on-site).
  • Use of teleconferencing/videoconferencing from home out-of-hours occasionally to link with global team for meetings in differing time zones.

Vaccination Requirements

  • Effective November 1, 2021, absent an approved religious or medical reason, all US office-based and lab-based Takeda employees who work fully on-site or in a hybrid model (as determined by Takeda) must be fully vaccinated to work at a Takeda site or to engage with Takeda colleagues or anyone else on behalf of Takeda.
