We are currently looking for a Contract Sample Management Coordinator (similar to a laboratory technician) to support the inventory, processing, and distribution of biohazardous samples in a fast pace CLIA/CAP Laboratory. The coordinator will perform activities in support of daily procedures including but not limited to checking in, tracking, aliquoting, storing, preparing, and returning or destroying biological samples.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and quality checking biological material shipments
  • Assisting in biological sample verification, documentation and storage
  • Accessioning of specimens using automated and manual systems
  • Manually processing large biological sample sets using multichannel pipettes
  • Maintaining accurate associations between samples and their replicates using database systems
  • Maintaining an accurate sample inventory
  • Distributing processed samples to functional groups within SomaLogic
  • Supporting disposition of biological specimens in collaboration with the Project Management and Shipping and Receiving departments
  • Adhere to CLIA/CAP Laboratory standards and regulations
  • Performing tasks per established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Completing controlled forms while performing procedures with a high level of accuracy and detail
  • Adhering to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) during all documentation steps
  • Complying with Quality Assurance and Regulatory requirements
  • Communicating questions, concerns and procedure deviations clearly and promptly
  • Performing routine laboratory maintenance
  • Complying with laboratory safety policies and procedures

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications:

Education

High school diploma with a minimum of 3 years of relevant lab experience or Associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant lab experience.

Skills And Experience

  • Experience processing specimens using microliter single-channel and multi-channel pipettes
  • Experience in sample accessioning, distribution, inventory, and database management
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time with high accuracy
  • Experience and skill to perform checks on your own work while it is being performed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision while following SOPs
  • Ability to adhere to timelines
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Desire to work collaboratively and effectively in a team oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with the major MS Office applications (intermediate level Excel or above preferred)
  • Familiarity with inventory systems (LIMS preferred)
  • Ability to learn and understand complex databases systems and how they interact

Work Environment:

  • Work is in a typical laboratory environment with Personal Protective Equipment use required (enhanced PPE use for infectious material)
  • The work environment may include, but is not limited to, the following hazards: chemical, electronic, mechanical, biohazard waste and infectious material (COVID-19)
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is regularly required to stoop, crouch and twist. Occasionally the employee is required to kneel, squat, and sit.
  • This position requires work with biological specimens at – 80 °C temperatures in a laboratory setting
