We are well known and highly respected in the European power sector. Our mission is to 10x our business and impact in the next 5 years and position ourselves as ‘the’ techno-commercial conference provider of choice across all Critical National Infrastructure sectors in Europe. We operate a Customer-first ethos and our values are: Take Ownership, Work to High Standards, Be Courageous, Win-Win, Be Enthusiastic.

We are currently a team of 12, and inviting confident, competent, commercially-minded graduates from a variety of academic backgrounds to join our graduate training programme.

This is an exciting position that will provide deep insights into the b2b event creation process, but it is certainly not for the faint hearted. To succeed you must have a solid academic background, a keen interest in the Clean Energy sector, a strong and consistent work ethic, a curious growth mindset, an insatiable hunger for learning, and the determination to produce exceptional results. In short you must be a high-achiever with a strong sense of purpose.

The role involves:

  • One year programme: in your first year you will work across the 4 core b2b event functions and develop skills and insights that will position you for leadership within our organisation in 3-5 years: Sales, Marketing, Logistics, Programme Research. You will be highly guided and supported but must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to take direction and receive constructive feedback.
  • Sales: first 3 months; on receiving a project briefing you will interpret the information into a sales script and prospect pipeline that enables you to conduct 5-10 progressive conversations with power grid engineering professionals per day, and nurture those conversations to conversion, achieving 3 x delegate bookings per campaign week.
  • Marketing: next 3 months; following the project briefing you will assist with the launch of the event website and marketing collateral, identify new media partners and negotiate win-win contra-deals, and engage the event speakers and sponsors for word of mouth marketing to drive the event revenue target.
  • Logistics: next 3 months; you will assist with the practical coordination and staging of the event. You will source and negotiate with venues, AV and print suppliers, liaise with speakers, sponsors and delegates to help them prepare for their participation, run the onsite registration desk and ensure that the event is executed to high standards of delivery and customer service.
  • Programme Research: final 3 months; you take a project briefing from the Programme Director, conduct 40+ qualitative research interviews with key representatives of the European power grid sector, and interpret this information into a commercially driven conference agenda. You then source and secure the contribution of leading power grid engineering leaders to join the speaker line-up, and system and component suppliers to sponsor the event.
  • Specialisation: having completed the year-long programme, you will get the opportunity to select one function to specialise in, in consultation with your line manager, and begin your full-time career in b2b events with a clear career progression path mapped out to get you to a leadership position within 3-5 years.

The ideal candidate will possess:
