Job Description
HR Specialist
Realogy seeks a skilled Human Resources Specialist who is passionate about providing exceptional manager/employee support services. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service & communication skills, be responsible & reliable, and willing to regularly contribute to enhancing the employee’s work experience at our company. Key Responsibilities
- Initial HR point of contact for managers and employees for general questions and support, including when inquires require research and/or a conversation. Explains HR procedures and standards. Redirects employees to appropriate resource for specialized support, including payroll, policy interpretation, benefits, compensation, counseling on performance management, employee engagement and rewards, and IT. Escalates issues as needed.
- Fosters a positive employee experience by providing accurate, timely customer support services. Approaches work and interactions with a high attention to detail and empathy. Assists, troubleshoots, partners with others, and escalates issues.
- Works in close partnership with HR Business Partner to provide HR support in the areas of workforce implementation/change initiatives, offboarding, fostering a positive and supportive work environment, execution of business and HR strategies, and assisting employees during times of need. Strives to ensure consistency in following internal standard processes & HR/employment best practices. Raises areas for HR Business Partner to follow up or focus.
- Contacts manager and new hire to establish initial HR contact, ensure smooth onboarding, and assist with issue resolution related to system access set up. Resolves escalations related to outstanding new hire paperwork.
- Works with HR partners and managers on intake and processing of resignations and involuntary terminations. Prepares termination paperwork and packages, calculates severance for eligible employees, distributes exit packets, conducts exit interviews and uploads data for tracking & analysis, reviews exit data for trends and areas for further discovery in future exit interviews, answers exiting questions, and provides guidance to managers as needed on exit actioning items.
- Prepares employment verification letters.
- Submits job requisitions to talent acquisition for posting and handling. Maintains job description library.
- Drafts all letters/offer attachments for employee changes not related to an open requisition (in-line promotions, transfers, pay changes, etc.). Answers employee questions or redirects to appropriate resource. Submits all required documentation to the processing team.
- Interfaces with processing team to provide appropriate paperwork and documentation for all employee transactions including but not limited to salary changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
- In partnership with the processing team, ensures HR recordkeeping is compliant and updates made timely. As needed, assists with dataecordkeeping audits and obtaining details from HR partners, managers and/or employees as needed.
- Partners with HR partners to coordinate submission of proper documents requested during SOX or other internal or external audits.
- Works with managers on incomplete timecards and other outstanding HR documentation.
- Prepares administrative termination letter and packages for delivery to exiting employee. Answers exiting questions or redirects to Benefits Team for leave questions.
- May provide initial intake support related to workers’ compensation claims.
- Coordinates data and reporting requests from other departments and HR COEs (HR Training & Development, Finance, Compensation, HRIS, etc.).
- Reviews work practices and recommends ways to simplify and streamline processes.
- Drafts process flow documents to map/define roles and responsibilities, ensure standardization of HR support services, optimize efficiency, and train new team members.
- Assists employee relations team with clearing disclosures within centralized system.
- Assists with general reporting as needed.
- Assists with other projects as needed.
Basic Requirements
- 5 years broad-based, employee-facing HR experience required.
- HR experience must include the handling of employment change actions, navigating and resolving sensitive situations, coaching managers, assisting new hires with onboarding, handling all offboarding tasks (processing terminations, backfill requests, workforce reductions & paperwork, and exit interviews), and able to interact well with all levels within the organization.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with all levels in the organization.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail and organization & prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to manage, protect and maintain confidential information.
- Must be agile and able to multitask/change courses quickly without compromising accuracy.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws.
Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- PHR/SPHR designation preferred.
