More than 15 million developers and 500,000 organizations worldwide use Postman today. Our customers are doing more and more astounding things with the Postman product every day, and as a result, we are growing rapidly.

Postman is one of the most widely used API platforms in the world. In our pursuit of ensuring our platform is as interoperable as possible we are regularly investing in a variety of core as well as community open source tooling projects. Actively developing and releasing open source tools via Github, as well as open-source API collections via public API workspaces. We are looking for a strong JavaScript Software Engineer to help us actively support a mix of open source projects written in Node.js. Working with the team and the community to determine and define requirements, develop solutions for those requirements, and publish releases via public Github repositories. Moving forward specific API tooling, while also developing useful Node.js scripts for us in automation and workflows using Postman collections published to public API workspaces.

What You’ll Do

  • Work on the internals of multiple existing open-source Node.js projects, debug pressing issues, and implement new features
  • Develop entire new open-source Node.js projects with a mix of maturity, helping provide prototypes as well as more production-ready solutions
  • Create and iterate upon Postman collections that employ a variety of APIs, including pre-request and post-request Node.js scripts to automate API capabilities
  • Document the open-source tools and collections that we develop, making them usable by others in the community
  • Help engage, curate, and manage Github issues and comments on the open-source tooling and collections you develop
  • Provide recorded or video conference demonstrations around the value the open-source tooling and collections you develop provide

About You

  • 5+ years of experience with open-source software
  • 5+ years of experience with JavaScript and/or Typescript in either Node.js or the browser
  • Bachelors’ degree in related field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Strong experience in producing and consuming APIs across different use cases
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with Postman and the role it plays in the API lifecycle
  • An active presence on Twitter, LinkedIn, or Github as a social network
  • Experience and Excitement towards working with global, distributed teams
  • Alignment with our Values
  • An innate curiosity about how things work
  • Not afraid to find solutions to everyday business problems
  • Lots of smiles

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with API specifications like OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, and JSON Schema
  • An interest in contributing to API specifications like OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, and JSON Schema
  • The ability to write blog posts about what you are developing on a regular basis
