Position Summary

The Registered Nurse as a Staff Nurse in Adult Critical Care performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients. Meets Standards of Care and Standards of Practice. Supervises assigned personnel. Promotes collaboration with physicians and personnel of other departments. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients served. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over life span and possesses ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify patient requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. Provides care needed as described in department policies and procedures. Completes a competency skills checklist within 3 months of employment. All staff must have two full years of acute care experience per specialty, no new grads. Participants are to be oriented a maximum of two shifts per specialty if necessary.

All staff will be required to float to all of the following areas as defined:

• Adult Critical Care defined Adult ICU
• Adult IMC

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• Graduate from school of Nursing, BSN preferred
• Successful completion of basic critical care course or equivalent training for this hospital’s for this hospital’s critical care course.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years’ critical care experience, Medical ICU preferred
• CCRT, Proning, and Code Chill experience preferred.

License/Certification

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nevada
• Current BLS
• Current ACLS (within 90 days of hire/transfer)
• CCRN Preferred
