Job Description:

The PSO role in Options for Change+ will involve working directly with individuals of the service to build strong, trusting, attachment-based relationships with people whilst in custody, providing support upon release and then up to two years post release.  Developing excellent links and working relationships with community partners will be essential.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To support delivery of training and learning for PDU staff working with complex offenders.
  • To co-deliver welcome, skills development and trauma informed group work sessions.
  • Regular pre-release in-reach sessions, with other team members, that may be at prison establishments across the country, collaboratively developing formulation and support plans for release.
  • This will require a warm and empathic approach to work alongside person’s on probation, enabling them to achieve successful community reintegration. The IIRMS ethos is a psycho-social model based on desistance principles and the good lives model.
  • To maintain ongoing visits and key work with IIRMS cases whilst they are resident at Approved Premises and to support their transition from long term custody into gradual resettlement in the community. Once released this may include; accompanying person’s on probation to various appointments such as GP registration, bank account set up, benefits assessments or to pursue hobbies, sports activities.
  • To work as part of a multi-agency team to support people with personality/relational difficulties, share information, develop risk management and resettlement planning for OPD cases presenting a very significant level of need, risk and complexity.

Job Requirements:

  • The ability to travel to across the area/region to a wide range of prison establishments and Approved Premises
  • A demonstrated interest in a trauma informed approach to working with offenders with a diagnosis of personality disorder
  • The ability to work as part of a multi-agency team
  • The ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Excellent team working skills
