About the job
The Reimbursement Team is responsible for the processing, maintenance and accuracy of Medline’s Health Reimbursement Product Classification data fields, including HCPCS, FSA, and HSA.
The Business Analyst is responsible for leading data-driven projects that focus on improving quality, availability, and governance of health reimbursement classification and data records. The Data Analyst may be assigned specific focus domains or take on more generalized tasks as needed. Requires collaboration with team members, Sales Teams, Product Divisions, and other business units, and communication with various levels of management.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Identify data and reporting tools necessary to/and perform business, and data analysis. Develop reporting/analysis for product manager, and/or sales. Communicate the results of the business, and data analysis.
- Understand the impact of data changes within Medline’s business systems. Anticipate downstream consequences of change on other business areas and systems.
- Develop and analyze data, providing insight into trends or unusual performance.
- Organize, plan and recommend analysis and reports consistent with continuous improvement of processes and procedures. Recommend, develop, create and implement standard reporting for routine business reports. Recommend, develop, create and implement ad hoc reports as business conditions necessitate.
- Monitor for data accuracy, timeliness and integrity in data used in analysis and reporting. Communicate to appropriate personnel if data inaccuracies exist.
- Ensure follow-up so that analysis and reporting outcomes are reviewed and implemented.
- Apply knowledge and understanding all aspects of Product Billing (HCPCS Coding) as well as Product Classification (HPIS). Develop and maintain reporting design for billing codes and product classifications. Serve as the subject matter expert as needed in collaborative projects across the company.
- Analyze files containing HPIS classifications; determine data update needs. Research questions from the product divisions to determine if proper classification has been selected and make necessary changes to the data.
- Manage HCPCS application process. Work with the divisions and the government liaison to successfully receive proper billing code approvals. Update the system to reflect the proper coding details.

Education & Relevant Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or at least 1 year relevant data management or health coding work experience.
- Minimum one year of relevant work experience in data management.
Additional Experience
- Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
- High attention to detail, self-motivated, strong analytical and communication skills
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
- Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.
- Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
- High attention to detail, self-motivated, strong analytical and communication skills
