Job Description:

The Vice President Controller position reports on a solid-line basis to both the MMS CFO and the SVP and Controller of McKesson (the Corporate parent). This unique and dynamic role is responsible for accounting oversite and compliance of a major BU with multiple legal entities and significant business complexity. The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality, integrity, timeliness and material accuracy of MMS’ financial reporting. This unique opportunity is responsible, directly or indirectly, for the direction of all accounting practices and procedures and accounting-related work product throughout MMS. In addition, this role will lead the Accounting department’s efforts to drive continuous improvement of accounting processes and programs as well as drive the optimization of the department’s reliance on Corporate shared services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on technical accounting issues at the BU level, ensuring the appropriate interpretation and accurate, timely application of new/revised GAAP pronouncements.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining appropriate SOX controls throughout the combined MMS business and managing the relationship with Deloitte, Internal Audit, and SOX teams.
  • Oversight of Controllership projects in support of long term strategic initiatives, including the Finance Operating Model (FOM) transformation.
  • Responsible for collaboration and coordination with MMS FP&A to ensure forecasts are well informed of accounting-related issues and are materially accurate and reliable.
  • Indirectly responsible for oversight and review of accounting performed by Shared Services organizations inside McKesson and, by extension, offshored accounting functions.
  • Oversight of complex and judgmental areas of MMS’ accounting, whether provided by McKesson’s accounting shared service or developed by the BU.
  • Responsible for day-to-day interface on all key accounting, customer/vendor finance, business compliance and reporting issues within MMS
  • Directly responsible for the BU month- and quarter-end close process to produce accurate, complete and timely financial statements for the BU.
  • Directly responsible for accounting guidance on proposed business transactions, both internal and external. Responsible for MMS acquisition-related activity, including due diligence, technical accounting and systems/process integration.

Job Requirements:

  • Superior executive presence and communication skills (will be required to frequently interact with BU and Corporate executives)
  • Individual should possess ability and desire to be considered as a standout leading member of both the MMS Business Unit Finance Leadership Team and the SVP Corporate Controller Leadership Team and should be able to stretch and grow into progressively more responsible Finance and Accounting leadership roles in the organization over the next 3 to 5 years
  • Excellent communication and team building skills

Qualification & Experience:

  • 12+ years of finance/accounting experience including 10+ years of managerial experience
  • Experience leading large, diverse and matrixed teams in a Global Fortune 100 company setting
  • Big-4 Firm audit or accounting advisory experience preferred
  • Strong technical accounting experience – Big 4 public accounting experience
  • Strong experience leading change and business / process transformation
