Your Role

Assume full responsibility for any operational and administrative activities for clients as it relates to Projects Department. Required to perform a variety of duties as outlined in Operational Procedures in support of the organization’s/branch’s /divisional projects activities. This individual reports directly to the Operations Manager for the Project Department and is overall responsible for the day to day operational activities of their team, while maintaining the highest levels of customer service. This position must also insure that the overall team is in complete compliance with all corporate guidelines as well as client contracts.

Your Responsibilities

  • Responsible for P&L, profitability and productivity of accounts, FSL transactions including correct billing GP reporting and decision taking on closing, accrual and defer status.
  • Ensures prompt and accurate documentation and invoicing;
  • Ensures distribution of information vital to the operations of the department and the general conduct of the business
  • Maintains lines of communication with international operations contacts, if/when applicable, and
  • local customers
  • Maintain lines of communication with upper management, to include: departmental issues/needs or any administrative issues, department performance, etc
  • Maintain customer contact, review KPI Metrics routinely and implement corrective measures when needed to improve performance and visit customers whenever required to improve communication and service
  • Manage the movement of customer project cargo Import/Export, Air/Ocean accordance with organizational policy and procedure ensuring compliance with relevant local, country and international law and processes.
  • Monitor timely responses to external/internal customers and other K+N offices
  • Travel both domestically and international? as needed.
  • Required to attend Load outs/Discharges, Ocean, Air, Road, Rail and coordinate with onsite and third party representatives.
  • Enforce and implement SOP during planning and execution phase of the project.
  • Support the business development and KAM’s on operational level to meet customer expectations and develop potential new business.
  • Evaluate staff performance where required on a regular basis and annually through the Performance Review process
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with service providers Ocean/Trucking/Heavy Haul to ensure compliance/HSE and maximum profitability.
  • Assist with monitoring of performance sub-contractors, productivity, and quality of service.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement process to increase efficiencies and improve performance to customers: Ensure personnel are trained, technically competent and well informed of changes in customer service requirements and regulatory matters;
  • Increase competency level of all Projects personnel to ensure quality, compliance and outstanding service
  • Provide training and education to team members and collaborate with other supervisors/managers of the department staff by initiating cross-training.
  • Work in accordance with QSHE working instructions and procedures
  • Additional responsibilities may be given in accordance with supporting a specific department/division and/or employee may be tasked with specific, individualized assignments.

Your Skills And Experiences

  • Minimum ten years of freight forwarding operations covering all aspects of the business, with strong background in Project Cargo.
  • Experience in break bulk cargo, chartering and heavy lift and haul of cargo in excess of 200 Tons
  • Understanding of rate negotiations and structures, marine insurance, carriers terms
  • Proficient in multiple modes of transportation(Air/Ocean/Barge/Rail – Import/Export)
  • General craneigging and lifting knowledge required.
  • Ability to work in AutoCAD and review and understand transportation drawings, center of gravity, lifting arrangements.
  • Ability to review, verify and evaluate Method Manuals/Statements and Suitability for heavy lift cargoes in conjunction with technical specialists.
  • Familiar with managing capital projects (EPC, Power, Petro refining)
  • General understanding of contracting requirements with clients and subcontractors.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement methods, root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions.
  • Manage and control project expenditures within agreed budget and corporate policies.
  • Direct responsibility for adherence to QA/HSE matters on specific project as well as KN Global Compliance.
  • Strong verbal and written communications, organizational and customer service skills; and, the ability to handle multiple tasks utilizing strong time management skills needed.
  • Knowledge and experience in PC, MS Office, PDF applications required.
