Job Summary

J.P. Morgan is seeking talented candidates for a VP position in our Alternative Payments Product team. Our group of professionals is composed of top performers from top payments, fintech, banking, consulting firms, and other internal JPMorgan Chase groups. The Product Manager is responsible for working across our business to identify opportunities to drive an Alternative Payments agenda that reflects our clients’ changing needs. This will drive the build and transformation of Alternative Payments product capabilities including Digital Wallets, Push to Card and Alias based payments to support our Payments business. The Product Manager is responsible for defining business requirements and product capabilities and partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements for delivery.

The Product Manager aligns strategic goals and objectives with decisions regarding products and services, capabilities, and key business and tech initiatives. This role is all about making it happen with a rigorous and laser sharp focus on execution to develop market leading capabilities. This is a high profile role which will require very careful attention to detail (e.g. understanding business capabilities and requirements) while always keeping the mission and our client needs in mind.

The Product Manager will work in a cross-functional ‘project’ based environment to accelerate decision making. The role will be responsible for collaborating with key partner groups including T echnology , Operations and Sales to increase the rate of product development, with the purpose of delivering greater value to the franchise. This role is ideal for highly motivated individuals with advanced problem solving and strong interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will be a highly commercial individual who has a strong business and technical background.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Core responsibilities
    • Understand and interpret business strategy, goals and priorities across Alternative Payments clients
    • Client obsessive, with focus on developing business requirements to meet client needs
    • Work with Product, Technology, Sales and other stakeholder teams to drive prioritization efforts
    • Work closely with business and technology partners to ensure continual alignment of product requirements to actual technology roadmap
    • Facilitate workshops and conduct knowledge elicitation meetings
  • Project Management
    • Drive Product Development transformation across Alternative Payments
    • Build effective relationships with key Product, Technology, Operations, Sales and functional leads; while being able to effectively challenge them to move projects forward
    • Gathering, analyzing and synthesizing feedback
    • Redesign existing processes (where relevant) to create capacity so that the business plan is delivered on schedule
    • Report new opportunities and challenges with go-forward recommendations
  • Problem Solving & Analysis
    • Execute creative analyses and provide insight to identify issues and arrive at recommendations
    • Ability to break down analyses and issues into their individual components
    • Ability to quickly learn new concepts
    • Ability to keep sight of the overall context and remain centered on answering the ‘bigger’ question
  • Communications
    • Confident speaker with ability to provide clear and succinct verbal updates on their work to colleagues and senior executives
    • Actively contribute to team meetings with colleagues & with stakeholders from other functions
    • PowerPoint skills – able to structure senior management presentations with minimal input
    • Excel skills – able to effectively manage fluid data in a manner which is understandable and transferrable to partners

    • Ability to handle multiple work streams and manage stakeholder expectations to deliver against each
    • Safe pair of hands – keeps track of deliverables and proactively follow-ups and provides updates
    • Is able to build relationships with and influence colleagues and LOB functions to meet deadlines

  • Sales and client engagement
    • Meet with clients to understand their needs to help develop new solutions
    • Educate JPMC Sales on payment product capabilities
    • Support Sales functions from a Product perspective, covering off new product capabilities and roadmap
    • Deep product and commercial appreciation for major parts of Payments organization

Essential Qualifications

  • 7 – 10 + years in a Payments Product, Technology, Operations, Consulting or Fintech role
  • Experience driving large projects
  • Experience in leading initiatives/projects to resolve diverse problem solving challenges
  • Hands on technical delivery experience strongly preferred
  • Business analyst experience with the ability to act as liaison conveying information needs of the business preferred
  • Demonstrated capability of designing and implementing global standards
  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional teams, and coach and development of other team members
  • A track record demonstrating a high level of personal initiative, setting and achieving challenging goals, and demonstrating entrepreneurial leadership
  • A bias towards action and focusing on delivering the end in mind at all times
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills
  • Creative thinking and problem solving with internal and external partners
  • Strong project management skills
  • Considers risk in interactions with clients/ partners and controls risks; understands the regulatory environment faced by the business and structures recommendations accordingly
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
