We have some fantastic opportunities for people to join our Software Engineering teams as Quality Assurance (QA) Engineers! These are ideal roles for people looking to start a career in tech as we’ll immerse you into learning the languages, tools and processes that path the way into becoming a QA Engineer as well as provide opportunities to expand into multiple software engineering disciplines and give you a wholistic picture of how systems operate. Our QA community spans across multiple pods, have regular catch ups, discussions around best practice and provide insights into what works well from a test automation point of view.

To help you to become successful in these roles – and to help you on the path to more senior or more specialist positions – we’ll support you through a comprehensive training programme. This includes sessions to develop your technical skills and company/product knowledge, regular pay reviews where you can increase your salary by meeting specific objectives, and in some cases supporting you towards professional qualifications.

What will you be doing?

You’ll initially be hired as a QA Engineer Associate. When you join the team, you can expect the following:

  • Learn how to collaborate with Product Owners, UX and engineers, applying a QA mindset when reviewing requirements and generating test scenarios that cover both happy and unhappy paths, non-functional requirements, etc.
  • Learn to break things and conduct explorative testing.
  • Understand how to develop in Typescript to allow you to use Cypress.
  • Understand how to use source control, conduct peer reviews and iteratively develop automation tests.
  • By understanding the basics of HTML, CSS and the use of test automation tools like Cypress you’ll be able to add to test automation packs that check tags on the user interface (UI) and validate if the UI is working as expected when changes happen to a micro front-end your team operate.
  • Understand how to use cloud-based testing tools like browser stack to conduct cross browser testing.
  • Understand how to generate basic accessibility reports.
  • Learn the basics of .NET to support API Testing.
  • Create scenarios and validate APIs with tools like Postman and Rest Sharp using C#.
  • Exposure to NFRs and understand how to use JMeter and Gatling to conduct performance/stress testing.
  • Generating small/de-coupled automation tests within a continuous integration environment.
  • Following best practice engineering techniques such as trunk-based development and SOLID principles when developing automation tests.

By learning the basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript, .NET and HashiCorp scripting language; by learning how to treat infra as code, creating release pipelines, iteratively developing under source control, stress testing application; and by having a solid background in quality assurance you can open the doors to other disciplines within Software Engineering which could include:

  • Business Analysis
  • Software Engineering (e.g. UX/UI, Back-end)
  • DevOps Engineering
  • QA Engineering.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for recent Graduates (or equivalent) with the following skills and experience:

  • Passionate about developing a successful career in IT / software development.
  • Experience working with programming languages and developer platforms – either within education, work experience or through personal interests/hobbies.
  • Confident, good communication skills and able to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environments
  • Proactive, with the ability to quickly learn new skills.
