Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Civil Construction Inspector (FHWA) , we’ll count on you to:

The primary duties of the Civil Inspector 2 are inspection of roadway construction activities and coordination of construction inspection, quality assurance inspections of roadway, highway, and/or bridge projects, up to and/or including asphalt, paving, earthwork & landscape, steel, concrete, striping & signage, drainage, traffic control, stormwater management inspection, road widening, coordination with contractors, other inspectors, surveyors and materials testers as well as documentation of the project progress. Responsible for maintaining accurate daily reports of construction site activity, including smart phone photo documentation, field measurements for progress payment, and production of required daily reports. Coordinates with others for documentation for contractor progress pay estimates. Does calculations to support the technical aspects of the work.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required, technical school beneficial.
  • Inspection on roadways, highways, and or bridges & overpasses required.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in construction inspection and management. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license and compliance with HDR’s vehicle policy.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test and drug and alcohol testing during the course of your employment based upon HDR’s Drug Testing and Drug Free Workplace Policy.
  • These roles are performing work in the Pacific Northwest region (Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana)
  • Must be willing to travel to assignments
  • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This position requires onsite client visits, or, this position will be co-located at the client site. The client requires all contractors/consultants/vendors who work or visit the site be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
