What You’ll Be Able To Do

This position is a part of the Global Client OS team and would be specifically focused on service enhancements for our macOS Global Client. The macOS Global Client is a standardized version of the macOS Operating System for desktop and laptop devices. It provides the Enterprise standard functionality, security, and configuration which allows Ford employees to use the platform.

This role is to help continue our mission to improve the customer experience with macOS. The employee would work to deliver this goal on projects that help shape the future direction of the Mac service. Some projects may include direct contribution toward evolving end-user at-home staging capabilities, enablement of inherent and key macOS features, as well as enhancements to our self-serve macOS software offerings.

Position Details

  • Participate in troubleshooting and or implementing future versions of our Mac client, including macOS 12 “Monterey” and future releases.
  • Work with our macOS management tools (Jamf Cloud-based MDM) to build workflows/policies/procedures to manage our macOS environment, such as:
  • Software and OS update processes
  • Device compliance status reporting
  • UX and visual design enhancements
  • Certificate management
  • Work with application owners to build macOS self-service application portfolio
  • Connect with the macOS customer base to determine future process improvements to enhance user experience with the platform and support
  • Work with the Jamf API to develop reports to help drive decision making and expose environment health
  • Continue and foster direct relationships with Microsoft, Apple, and Jamf for strategic operating system strategies and support. Discuss ongoing initiatives with key partners to roadmap key service improvements for our Mac users.
  • Support the macOS user community at an L3 support level
  • Participate in our Service Team transformation, steering the macOS service into future agile processes, enhancing the speed of build, test, and release to drive to faster fixes and features

The Minimum Requirements We Seek:

  • High school education or GED
  • 2+ years of experience with high understanding and use of macOS.
  • 1+ year of experience with client device management, E.g.: JAMF Cloud-Based MDM.

Our preferred qualifications:

  • Shell & Swift scripting experience
  • Experience with MDM device management technology
  • Expert level understanding of Apple Mac devices
  • Some exposure to client operability and troubleshooting techniques
  • Some exposure to Agile concepts
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills.
  • Customer-focused mentality
  • Willingness to learn, self-starting, and self-sustaining. Able to work strongly focused on the mission at-hand and work independently.
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills, including project and technology management techniques. Able to regularly gather and incorporate user feedback as well as leadership requests and communicate status effectively to senior leaders.

Additional Information:

At present, the team is primarily work-from-home. Upon return to normalcy, in-office time may be required to facilitate hands-on-hardware needs, and collaboration with team, though flexibility is certainly promoted. All flexible schedules are welcomed (AWS, telecommute, etc.) L3 support may require direct customer interaction and creative solutions potentially outside of home or off hours
