The Role

  • The Project Engineer (Conversion) is responsible for the conversion kit design and the supporting service documentation to facilitate all aspects of the project, from customer kick off to successful implementation at the customer site.
  • Creates the documentation required for each customer tool conversion project, including quote creation, design reviews and revision updates as needed.
  • Works with engineering team to provide required drawings and parts for each kit.

  • Work with a group of Project Engineers to deliver complete product to the customer
  • Meets with current and potential customers to define and document requirements for engineered solutions or systems
  • Coordinates and attends customer installation design meetings to ensure the customer installation/construction package contains the correct system layout, electrical, mechanical, and communication interfacing
  • Coordinates with supporting engineering groups to select appropriate pumps and configurations, abatement modifications, software configurations and thermal product needed.
  • Translate Integrated System requirements into a system specification document containing:
    • Footprint and layout requirements
    • Utility and electrical requirements
    • P&ID diagrams
    • Detailed material lists of required components
    • Software requirements
    • OEM Tool signaling details
    • Fab/Automation signaling requirements
  • Develop Request for Quote (RFQ) used in creating part numbers and Factory estimates based on system specification document
  • Coordinate with sales to develop BOMs for quotations and submit forecast orders for approval.
  • Conducts kick off meetings prior to engineering activities
  • Participate in reviews and approval of engineering designs with product managers and operations & engineering teams
  • Coordinates 30/60/90/Build release reviews as needed based on system complexity
  • Coordinates and conducts 1st of kind build source inspections
  • Coordinates change control and specification changes for 1st build and high volume build integrated systems
  • Develops source inspection and final test requirements documentation
  • Performs internal source inspection team/coordinates customer source inspection requirements
  • Reports design status vs. schedule requirements
  • Coordinates and obtains customer approvals and signoff for system specification documentation
  • Create Pass down PowerPoint for conversion scope of work
  • Works with Technical Documentation group supporting installation procedures and support documentation
  • Coordinates the 1st system installation activities including, but not limited to preinstallation facility walk, site arrival inspection, equipment laydown, POC setting, electrical and hazardous gases availability, and production release
  • Responsibility for SEED Documentation, Engineering Change Notices, and Conversion packages
  • Development and Implementation of corrective action plans for engineering misses for Quality Improvement

Education level

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical engineering or a related field , or equivalent work experience.

Relevant Previous Experience

  • Possess a minimum of 5 years experience in technical/manufacturing/electronics environment.

Knowledge Areas/Skills

  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience with interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Proficient in MS office software (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Experience in the design/customization of electro-mechanical vacuum systems

Other Requirements

  • Ability to effectively work with customers, customer facing personnel, engineers and operations personnel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Capable of working with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Desired experience in designing and building various types of tools including robotic lifting tools, assembly tools, special purpose tools, measuring tools.
  • Good analytical and creative problem-solving skills to develop solutions to exceptional problems outside the box is required.
