Manager, SOX Advisory Team

Responsibilities

• Lead the SOX Advisory Team in standing up a control framework over the emerging reporting for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) in support of Capital One’s developing ESG priorities and focus on robust internal control governance
• Lead our robust approach to evaluating Entity Level Controls (ELC) and Disclosure Controls and Procedures (DCP) including risk assessment, control design, testing, deficiency analysis and reporting
• Engage in cross functional initiatives to address emerging risks identified internally or by our regulators by leading the risk assessment and establishment of control enhancements to our ICFR framework
• Liaise between business process performers, risk offices, internal and external auditors and accountable executives in the SOX program
• Support technology and business transformation from a SOX perspective, including assessing potential control changes that may be required as we embrace cloud capabilities to enhance our financial reporting and risk management practices
• Assess process and technology change initiatives and collaborate with the various risk offices to ensure a well-controlled process
• Monitor and advise on SOX testing by risk offices and contractors
• Perform analysis, capture and report control performance metrics and assist in preparing quarterly stakeholder reporting
• Interpret and communicate program and control information to senior leadership
• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the Company
• Actively seek and leverage knowledge to support Company process, internal control and operation initiatives
• Manage own workload to goal oriented priorities; consistent delivery of timely, error free work
• Establish a reputation for ability to deliver on commitments and support team strategic goals

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
• At least 5 years of experience in SOX, audit, information technology risk management, financial reporting risk management, or a combination

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification
• 6+ years of experience in Auditing or Control Evaluation
• 6+ years of experience in SOX controls
