Job Description:

Provide oversight and coordinate the overall availability of safe and serviceable ground equipment to meet all operational requirements including: equipment maintenance (overhaul, repair, inspection), safety standards, equipment/part/supply purchases, vendor sourcing and service agreements;

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily departmental operations ensuring safe work practices and adherence to policies and procedures;
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for all GSE updates, information, planning and reports using Trax;
  • Provide leadership to GSE staff through supervision and feedback, assist in recruitment, training, evaluation etc.;
  • Prepare, issue and develop RFQ’s, conduct vendor interviews and prepare recommendations for acquisitions of inventory and services;
  • Assist in development of the annual budget for GSE, maintains budget goals and provides variance explanations as appropriate;
  • Availability for after hours on call as required (i.e. nights, weekends);
  • Maintain and nurture professional relationships with vendors and service providers;
  • Travel to other bases;
  • Support departmental team approach to fulfill Company needs;

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated negotiation, budget development and management skills
  • Strong organizations skills and ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task
  • Proven skills in vendor negotiations
  • Possess strong computers skills (Word, Excel), experience with Trax an asset
  • Self motivated and able to work independently and or as a member of a team
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut an asset;

Qualification & Experience:

  • 2 years experience related to automotive parts/purchasing/mechanics or comparable industry experience
  • 2 year Post Secondary education or equivalent work experience in a related field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience dealing with internal and external customers
  • Previous supervisory experience in a unionized environment preferred
