Job Description:
The HRIS Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls while maintaining compliance with current regulations/legislation and company policies. This role is responsible for the execution and administration of HRIS/ Payroll activities ensuring data integrity and reliability through reporting measures and audit procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in special project initiatives
- Perform routine audit checks for data misalignment and inconsistencies
- Participates in requirement gathering for system enhancements and upgrades
- Performs year-end production, reconciliation and submission of reporting documents as required by legislation such as T4 slips and annual reporting
- Identify opportunities for improvement and standardization of current processes
- Assists in systems testing and training when required
- Ability to interpret and carryout processes related to pay as per various Collective Agreements
- Compiles reports and analyzes data as required
- Respond professionally and in a timely fashion to enquiries from employees regarding concerns with their pay
- Administration and maintenance within the HRIS system
- Responsible to remain current with regulation/legislative changes with respect to payroll related areas, HR of any potential impacts resulting from these changes and implementing required changes
Job Requirements:
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is considered an asset
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance qualification
- Knowledge of the methods, practices, principles, and procedures involved in the preparation, calculation and processing of payroll required
- Post-secondary education in Finance or Payroll
- Knowledge of federal employment legislation as is pertains to payroll
- Exhibit discretion in handling confidential / sensitive information
- Ability to build strong working relationships with all levels of the organization
- Excellent communication, presentation, time management and organization skills
- Strong work ethic with emphasis on confidentiality and professionalism
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Excel)
Qualification & Experience:
- Previous experience with a unionized environment
- Minimum 3 years of Payroll related experience
