Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager of Quality Control & Aircraft Records, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance performed on Company aircraft, engines, appliances and accessories is accomplished in accordance with Southern Air policies and the Federal Aviation Regulations to maintain a continuous state of airworthiness. Inspectors must hold a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics License and be authorized by the Chief Inspector.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform receiving inspections of newly purchased, repaired, overhauled parts or continued service components and hardware to ensure proper documentation from approved vendors, absence of shipping damage, proper packaging, protection, and airworthiness certification
  • Complete aircraft inspections, in accordance with maintenance program specifications, procedures and criteria to ensure they are maintained in an airworthy condition
  • During Heavy Check, audit all routine, non-routine and engineering documentation to ensure completeness, and that the mechanics/inspectors are trained and qualified, and all RII items are identified and inspected by RII qualified and authorized inspectors
  • Assist in review of aircraft maintenance records
  • Oversee the maintenance of aircraft to ensure that all required inspection items are satisfactorily inspected and that all procedures, standards, and limits comply with FAA regulations and Company policies
  • Recommend changes or additions to maintenance procedures. As required review and update company manuals including, but not limited to: General Maintenance Manual (GMM), RVSM, ETOPS, LLM and aircraft servicing manuals
  • Monitor and inspect maintenance performed on Company aircraft by outside operators. Verify the quality of work, review flight log for statement of work accomplished and authorize maintenance releases as necessary
  • Perform required inspections on “RII” items
  • Perform re-inspections (Buy-Back) of corrected discrepancies

Job Requirements:

  • Valid Driver License and US Passport
  • Able to travel internationally for periods of 30 days per occasion
  • Able to work rotating schedules to include weekends, nights and holidays

Qualification & Experience:

  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations, aircraft manufacture specifications and manuals
  • Current, active, and valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings
  • 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience on Boeing series aircraft
  • High School Diploma or equivalent educational experience
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of aircraft maintenance experience, of which three (3) years must be in an inspection department or held RII authorization
