A fantastic new opportunity has arisen within the Planning Team for a Modelling Manager (Train Crew).
This vital role will play an instrumental part in ensuring that our timetables are embracing the principles of ‘Build Back Better, which are robust, efficient and meet the needs of an evolving United Kingdom in a post pandemic era.

You will be responsible for providing detailed modelling outputs for train crew diagrams such that the impact of varying timetable concepts on train crew diagrams can be considered, working for the Service Specification Advisor within the Planning team.
You will have previous experience of undertaking train crew diagram production and possess an ability to analyse information, think strategically and consider sometimes conflicting requirements. It is therefore essential that you also have experience in modelling varying train plans for train crew diagram impact.
To excel in this area it is essential that you demonstrate an attention to detail and are committed to learning and building your experience in this area.
Ideally Your Application Should Demonstrate The Following Areas
- Must prove ability to work independently from head office and to work on own initiative as an ambassador for CrossCountry in the wider rail industry
- Appreciation of train planning principles and Crosscountry network geography
- Working knowledge of train planning systems including Voyager Plan & TrainTRACS as a minimum
- Proven analytical skills and ability to think innovatively
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Proven Negotiation / Influencing / Presenting skills
- Knowledge of or proof of ability to learn rail industry IT systems and Microsoft Office Applications
- Experience of working within a tightly controlled project / programme framework
- Excellent ability to communicate internally on commercially sensitive subject matter and data (both in communicating findings to people as well as ability to listen and understand & apply data inward)
- Risk identification and ability to think/consider the consequences of a train plan well beyond the graph/diagrams created (how the plan fits into the wider business strategy)
The team is based at Cannon House, Birmingham and the role will involve work in other locations on the Crosscountry network as required.
