The Enterprise Data Platforms team under Enterprise Digital & Data Solutions Group is responsible for defining American Express’ enterprise data strategy, implementing data governance initiatives, data management on Cornerstone and the shift to Google Cloud Platform. American Express’s global data ecosystem is a critical enabler of innovation and growth for the company.

The vision is deliver valuable, reliable, and ridiculously easy-to-consume data and technology solutions, empowering the enterprise to drive consistent, seamless, and personalized customer experiences while more efficiently controlling for data related risks.

This role will focus on analysis and design of data management principles to reduce redundancy and simplify data usability as we transition from on-prem to Google Cloud Platform. The team also has a strong focus on the development and implementation of metadata strategies ensuring the metadata collection processes are efficient, complete and meets the needs of the data consumers.

Responsibilities:

  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen with a focus on data organization, data management and metadata strategies
  • Ability to come up with creative solutions and consider a variety of alternative solutions for each problem
  • Self-starter that can identify and drive opportunities for the optimization of data
  • Demonstrates the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Works well in a team environment or as an individual, has a natural curiosity to identify and solve problems through strong thought leadership and driving priorities
  • Proactively monitor the data quality of incoming customer data and investigate poor data quality and data anomalies. Closely monitor important business metrics on regular basis, create and share reports with leadership team
  • Identifying the opportunity areas in existing Data Management processes and come up with Automation / Process Enhancements
  • Knowledge of the Agile framework
  • Ability to work with multiple product owners to ensure timely delivery

In order to work in or visit any of our offices in the United States, we require colleagues to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

  • Understanding of the end-to-end data lifecycle /data flow
  • Strong communication skills combined with an ability to interact effectively with peers, data consumers and technologies
  • 1- 2+ years of experience working with Data Strategy / Management processes
  • 2+ Years of Systems / Programming / Technical or Project Management Experience
  • 2+ Years of experience using Hadoop Stack such as Hive, Python and Spark
  • Experience in Data Governance, including Metadata, Data Lineage, Data Quality, Data Organization a plus
  • Previous Google Cloud Experience a plus

Preffered Qualifications

  • Ability to start full-time by May 2022 or earlier.
