Job Description And Qualifications

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Planner at the Texas City, TX facility.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for minimizing total expensed cost by maximizing work force and resource capabilities through prioritizing, planning and scoping of maintenance work orders in the safest possible manner for the Texas City site. You will co-lead backlog review and prioritization activities along with the Maintenance Superintendent. You will assist in developing work scopes as well as estimating cost related to labor, materials, equipment and special tool requirements to complete the job in a safe and cost-effective manner. You will be expected to drive as well as participate in all aspects of the company’s safety and reliability programs and culture.

You will constantly interface with all site personnel, contracted crafts, equipment suppliers, tool rental providers, engineering, and functional support services. Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Planning of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities for the Air Products Texas City facility with high standards for safety and quality of workmanship.
  • Review drawings, specifications, company standards, equipment manuals, etc. to determine scope of work.
  • Tracking and providing updates on progress of day-to-day jobs on the daily maintenance schedule and will report status updates to the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Assist in leading and participating in weekly/ monthly maintenance planning and backlog meetings with operations teams.
  • Provide current updates on projected delivery times of parts on order to aid in the scheduling process.
  • Responsibility for maintaining communications between operations and maintenance technicians to assign job and work priorities. Will also be expected to assist the regional capital projects group in scheduling with maintenance and operations resources.
  • Track PM compliance and drive the team to meet compliance goals of 100%.
  • Work with the North American PM coordination team to ensure PMs are assigned appropriately to our equipment or update accordingly.
  • Assist on PM prioritization based on operation needs, type of equipment and task criticality.
  • Be proficient in the use of SAP and Excel to be able to provide lists/spreadsheets for purchase-order/cost tracking.

The Maintenance Planner is expected to provide leadership and oversee contractors by job walkdowns, follow up through the process and verify the work is completed safely and with quality against expectation.

  • Availability to take calls after hours and weekends to assist with coordinating maintenance technician emergency call outs as well as support in plant activities as needed.
  • Support the Maintenance Superintendent in the creation and implementation of standardized maintenance work practices and procedures.
  • Help coach the teams on a consistent basis to adhere to and improve these work processes.
  • Interface with Materials Management and warehousing to, perform components/parts requisitions, update spares information as needed, create parts list for job plans and stage purchased materials.
  • Work along with the Maintenance Technical Assistant to keep the maintenance documentation evergreen, update procedures, pull SAP lookaheads and keep track of purchase orders or other SAP transactions.
  • Learn the maintenance area budget reporting process to act as a back up to the Maintenance Superintendent. Assist in estimating projected spend/cost estimates for forecasting purposes.
  • Assist in coaching and development of technicians through the progression plan guidelines to ultimately achieve Level 1 senior technician status.
  • Carry out onsite assessments of the resources and equipment necessary to enable the maintenance team to successfully execute the various maintenance activities. This will include liaising with technical and non-technical departments within Air Products and external contractors.
  • Involvement in a variety of other tasks including the coordination and execution of reliability and productivity improvement projects.
  • Champion the management of change (MOC) process and provide accurate and concise information as required to the operations team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years maintenance planning and mechanical craft experience in a chemical plant or refinery environment required.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, leadership and teamwork-oriented skills and be capable of interacting with a diverse team of people with various backgrounds and interests.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering specifications, vendor/supplier documentation, piping and instrument diagrams, blueprints, drawings, and procedures.
  • SAP or similar CMMS experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Capable of making decisions, prioritize workload, and multi-task. Drives responsibilities through to their completion with safety as priority.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to climb ladders and steps, get on scaffolding and wear PPE such as full body harness
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Elevated work required.
