Grain Origination Support Specialist

Location: Decatur, IL

This is a full time, non-exempt position

Position Summary

The Grain Origination Support Specialist is an integral part of the ADM origination team and will have a core focus on providing support for all producer facing business functions. You will assist the regional team in meeting its origination goals and providing ADM’s customers with the highest level of service. A heavy emphasis is placed on fostering relationships and supporting your origination teammates.

What You’ll Do

    • Provide outstanding customer service to our producers and manage transactional accounts
    • Lead all contract related tasks including entry, pricing, signature maintenance, past-due deliveries/terms, non-traditional contract expiration awareness and any state related documentation requirements for unpriced grain contracts
    • Handle accounting details for each customer including farm splits, grain application and settlement direction efficiently and accurately
    • Address any customer accounting questions, concerns, or mistakes promptly and professionally
    • Engage with our customer base by answering inbound phone calls, providing account information, and purchasing grain
    • Maintain and communicate critical location specific information to customers regarding bids, hours, and other significant announcements
    • Understand and articulate discount schedules by commodity
    • Enter and maintain offers and hedges for grain purchases
    • Develop an understanding of ADM’s producer contract portfolio
    • Support specialty type programs such as sustainability, non-GMO, etc.; responsibilities may include data management and reporting

Who We’re Looking For

  • Preferred
    • High attention to detail, well-organized, and effective time management skills are imperative
    • Develop and implement new processes and procedures
    • Interact in a consistently professional and positive manner with various internal and external personnel
    • Proficient in internal and external software systems including Microsoft Office suite, AGRIS, e-ADM, Salesforce, and accounts payable system
    • Existing knowledge or willingness to learn and understand the farming/agriculture industry as it pertains to this role
    • Minimum
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ work experience
    • Ability to learn and understand new software or other applications necessary to perform essential responsibilities authoritatively
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work as a member of a team
    • Ability to be accurate and timely in a dynamic work environment

What We Do at This Location:

  • Primary Office Location: Decatur, IL
    • This position will sit in Decatur, IL – remote work is allowable at times
  • Regional Description: Decatur, IL
    • The region contains a large corn and bean processor, regional truck house assets, and a few rail terminals within our draw
    • Physical locations include: Decatur, IL, with some work with our East Central Illinois and Central Illinois assets
    • Commodities purchased include: Corn and Soybeans
    • Various sustainability programs are offered in this region as well as a non gmo bean program
    • Typical hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. (non-harvest season) Additional hours & some weekends are expected during peak harvest season, which may run from September – November
  • Team Description:
    • This role reports to and primarily supports the regional origination team. This team is comprised of extroverted individuals with a core focus on farm-direct origination into ADM assets.
