About the job
- Description:* Engineering Manager will oversee the development of our client’s aviation security products and implement an effective engineering development process. Manage the full range of engineering disciplines with an emphasis on efficient systems engineering and robust design practices. This role partners with Product Management, Sales, Operations, Service, and the Customer.
- Some day-to-day responsibilities include:*
- Develop and maintain project plans for all engineering deliverables that quantify the scope, resources, release schedule, milestones, deliverables for the project, etc.
- Implement and maintain an effective engineering design process including scopeequirements definition, design reviews, verification & validation, configuration management and new product introduction.
- Provide technical leadership to rapidly address recurring failures or other field quality issues.
- Maintain documentation and records for all engineering activities.
- Create a culture to work and manage cross functionally with sales, marketing, engineering, and operations to meet customer commitments
- Ensure all company and departmental policies and safety processes are enforced
- Create and monitor performance metrics for engineering projects
- Travel: *
- Prior to working remotely or in a remote office location, these individuals would need to have at least 2 weeks on-site training at our client’s headquarters in Binghamton, NY
- Periodic trips (not more than 1 week every 2-3 months) will likely be required to work directly on our development equipment in Binghamton
- Could have travel outside of the US
- Qualifications:*
- BSET, BSME or BSCS
- 5+ years’ experience in engineering management or engineering project management
- Experience leading software development projects is a plus
- Managing electro-mechanical software system
- medical systems or IT experience
- Knowledge and experience in project planning methods and tools (e.g. Microsoft Project)
- Strong systems engineering skills enabling leadership across disciplines and product interfaces
- Sense of urgency and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Inspires trust and open communication
- Prior experience leading product engineering activities for complex systems for aerospace or medical system diagnostic imaging applications, esp. computed tomography
- Experience applying Six-Sigma quality methodology
- Understanding of regulatory technical requirements for both non-product and product
- Working knowledge of multiple technology disciplines such as electronics, computers, and electromechanical sensors
